Getting Started with the Certify Mac Interface

The Certify Mac interface allows you to remotely execute existing Certify Web processes that target Chrome or Safari on your Mac system. The Web interface is required to support the Certify Mac interface.

The Certify Mac interface does not have a Learn tool. This interface is composed of three main components:

  • Certify Mac interface
  • Worksoft Mac Agent
  • Worksoft Chrome and Safari extensions

Certify Mac Interface

The Mac interface is installed and managed with Worksoft Certify along with the Web interface. You will need to do the following in Certify:

  1. Manually create a Certify Mac application and application version. Select Mac in the Interfaces section. For more information, see Creating Applications.
  2. Create a new project and add the Certify Mac application. For more information, see Creating Projects and Adding Application Versions to a Project.
  3. Import the predefined Mac application map located in the following directory:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Worksoft\Certify\Interface Client\Worksoft\wsTest\Mac\Mac.map

An application map is an inventory of the application components. Each map is unique to each application version within a project. For more information on how to import a map to an application version, see Importing Application Maps.

Worksoft Mac Agent

The Worksoft Mac Agent must be installed on your Mac system in order to run the remote execution of Certify Web and SAP processes, as well as use Certify LiveTouch and Worksoft Business Capture. For information on how to install the Worksoft Mac Agent, see Installing the Worksoft Mac Agent.

The Mac agent is installed in the Applications folder as Worksoft Mac Agent. There are no user-configurable options or control interface, but there is a status option that can be configured. The Worksoft Mac Agent requires administrative privileges to change the status.

Worksoft Automation Extensions

When you install the Mac Agent, the Worksoft browser extensions for Chrome and Safari automatically install.

The first time you launch Chrome, a message appears asking if you want to enable the Worksoft Automation Extension. Click Enable Extension.

The first time you launch Safari, you must enable the Worksoft Automation Extension by selecting Preferences and clicking the Extensions button. In the Extensions tab, enable Worksoft Automation Extension.

Running Web Processes on a Mac System

To run an existing Certify Web process on a Mac system, you need to add a new step using the Mac interface Connect action. This new step connects the process to the remote Mac system.

Steps that use a Certify System object to perform operating system actions should be updated to use the equivalent action for the Mac interface, such as the Send Key action. However, steps that use the Web Send Key action do not need to be modified.

If the process contains any Windows specific actions, such as a file picker or operating system actions, more changes in the process are needed.

URLs that use the file protocol (file:///) on Windows will not work on the Mac system due to differences in how the two systems define the path to files and directories.
