Adding Steps to Processes

The Steps tab in the Process Editor is where you add and view individual steps in a selected process. For each step, select a value for each of the following options:

Option

Description

Application version

Available application versions that are associated with the opened project

Window

Available learned and system windows for the selected application version

Object

Available objects for the selected window

Action

Valid actions for the selected object

For information about the Steps tab keyboard shortcuts, see Process Editor Keyboard Shortcuts for the Steps Tab.

For interface action descriptions, click on an action in the Steps tab grid of the Process Editor, and a drop-down description list appears.

To add steps to a process:

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Processes.

    The Processes window opens.

  2. In the Processes Summary pane, double-click on an existing process or right-click on a process and select Edit.

    The Process Editor opens.

  3. Click the Steps tab.
  4. Right-click in the Steps grid and select New.

    A new step is added to the Steps grid.

  5. In each of the following columns, click the drop-down button to select values:
  6. Application Version
  7. Window
  8. Object
  9. Action
  10. Repeat this process to add more steps.

    If you forgot to add a step in the process, right-click on a step and select Insert Step Above or Insert Step Below. The selected step is copied, and you are able to edit the step with the needed information.

Adding Parameters to Actions

Depending on the action that is selected, you need to add attributes and parameters to the step.

To add parameters to actions:

  1. In the Steps tab, click on a step.

    The Parameters tab displays the values that you need to define.

  2. Enter values, select values from the drop-down lists, or click the corresponding buttons to select a value.

    Button

    Name

    Select Variable

    Select Layout

    Select Date/Time

    Select Existing Process

    New Process

  3. If you want to view the text box in a full-size editor, click the Open In Full-Size Editor button.

  4. After you have selected values for all of the steps, click the Save Process button.
