Specifying Page Option Rules in the Configuration File

The Page Option tabs allow you to specify the following page rules in your configuration file:

  • Caption
  • Title
  • URL

You must specify at least one page rule for your configuration file. By default, all options are selected.

To specify page option rules in the configuration file:

  1. From the Certify Tools menu, select Configure > Web > Configuration or select from the Certify Web Learn menu, select File > Configuration Manager.

The Configuration Manager appears.

  1. From the Configuration File drop-down list, select a configuration file. Remember that you cannot edit the default Factory file. If you want to make changes to the Factory configuration file, click File > Save As.
  2. From the Configuration Rules pane, select a page.

    The right pane of the Configuration Manager displays the Page Options tabs where you are able to configure your page rules.

  3. If you want to rearrange the page rules, use the Move Rule Up and Move Rule Down buttons to rearrange your rules.
  4. If you do not want to use Caption page rules, cancel the Use Caption option in the Caption tab and go to Step 10.
  5. To create a new Caption page rule, click on the New Page Caption Rule button or right-click in the pane and select New.

    To edit an existing Caption page rule, right-click on a caption rule and select Edit or click the Edit Caption Page Rule button.

    The New Page Rule or the Edit Page Rule dialog box appears.

  1. From the Criteria drop-down list, select one of the following criteria for the caption rule:
  2. Is Equal To
  3. Starts With
  4. Contains
  5. Ends With
  6. From the Value drop-down list, type in a value for your caption rule.
  7. From the Action drop-down list, select one of the following actions:
  8. Truncate Before
  9. Truncate After
  10. Click OK.

    The new rule or edited rule appears in the Caption Page Rule grid.

  11. Click the Title tab.
  12. If you do not want to use Title page rules, cancel the Use Title option in the Title tab and go to Step 17.
  13. To create a new Title page rule, click on the New Page Title Rule button or right-click in the pane and select New.

    To edit an existing Title page rule, right-click on a title rule and select Edit or click the Edit Title Page Rule button.

    The New Page Rule or the Edit Page Rule dialog box appears.

  1. From the Criteria drop-down list, select one of the following criteria for the title rule:
  2. Is Equal To
  3. Starts With
  4. Contains
  5. Ends With
  6. From the Value drop-down list, type in a value for your title rule.
  7. From the Action drop-down list, select one of the following actions:
  8. Truncate Before
  9. Truncate After
  10. Click OK.

    The new rule or edited rule appears in the Title Page Rule grid.

  11. Click the URL tab.

    The URL tab allows you to select whether you want to exclude text beyond a question mark found in the URL address. The text beyond the question mark is usually dynamic.

  12. If you do not want to use URL page rules, cancel the Use URL option in the URL tab.
  13. To create a new URL page rule, click on the New Page URL Rule button or right-click in the pane and select New.

    To edit an existing URL page rule, right-click on a URL rule and select Edit or click the Edit URL Page Rule button.

    The New Page Rule or the Edit Page Rule dialog box appears.

  14. From the Criteria drop-down list, select one of the following criteria for the title rule:
  15. Is Equal To
  16. Starts With
  17. Contains
  18. Ends With
  19. From the Value drop-down list, type in a value for your URL rule.
  20. From the Action drop-down list, select one of the following actions:
  21. Truncate Before
  22. Truncate After
  23. Click OK.

    The new rule or edited rule appears in the URL Page Rule grid.

  24. After you have specified your page option rules, select File > Save from the Configuration Manager menu to save your configuration.
