Masking Variables

When creating and editing a variable with sensitive data for its value, you can mask the variable value. This value does not appear in the Certify user interface and reports. You are only able to mask text data type values.

For added protection, you are able to encrypt the value in the database. If you do not select to encrypt the value, then this value appears in clear text in the database. You are able to encrypt the following values when they are marked for encryption:

Initial value of project and local variables
User-specific values of user variables

To mask a variable:

Select the Mask the value option when creating or editing a variable. This option is available in the New Variable and Edit Variable dialogs.
