Copying and Pasting Projects

The Project Copy dialog allows you to paste in a copied project to a selected project. The following related data is copied into the selected project:

  • Application versions
  • Requirements
  • Processes
  • Layouts
  • Recordsets
  • Variables
  • Test results

Application Versions

How application versions are copied is based on whether the application version is marked as shared or not shared. If the application version used in the source project is shared, you can select to copy or share the application version. Application version sharing enables groups to reuse the same application version across multiple projects. Application version copy copies the application version data—windows, pages, and objects, but it does not copy any other related assets. When the application version is copied, all the attributes are copied along with the application version.

If the application version from the source project is marked as not shared, then you can only copy the application version.

To copy and paste a project:

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Projects.

The Projects window appears.

  1. In the Navigation or Summary pane, right-click the project you want to copy and select Copy.
  2. In the Projects Navigation or Summary pane, right-click the target project and select Paste Into.

The Project Copy dialog appears.

  1. If the application version used in the source project is shared, select to share or copy the application.

If your application version is not shared or you selected Copy, go to Step 3.

If you selected Share, go to Step 4.

  1. Type in a new name for the application version in the New Version Name field or accept the default name. The default name for the application version uses the original name in the source project with the suffix of "(1)".
  2. Click Start to begin pasting the source project into the target project.
