Creating Layouts Using Processes and Child Processes

When you create layouts, you can add variables from existing processes and child processes.

To create a layout using variables created from existing processes:

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Data.

    The Data window opens.

  1. In the Navigation tree, select the folder where you want to create the new layout.
  2. In the Layouts Summary pane, right-click in the pane and select New Layout.

    The New Layout dialog opens.

  1. In the Name field, enter a unique name for the layout.

    Layout names have a maximum of 100 characters. Special characters and numbers are allowed in names.

  2. In the Description field, enter a description for the layout.

    Descriptions have a maximum of 1024 characters. Special characters and numbers are allowed in descriptions.

  3. From the Create drop-down list, select one of the following options:

  5. From Processes and Child Processes
  1. If you selected From Processes and Child Processes, enter a number in the Child Process Depth field.

    The number is how many child process levels you want to search.

  2. Click Select.

    The Select Process dialog opens.

  3. In the Navigation pane, select the folder that contains the processes you want to include in the layout.

    Once the folder is selected, all available processes are shown in the Processes Summary pane.

  4. Select the process containing the variables you want to include in this layout.

    When you select a process, the process is highlighted. You cannot choose multiple processes.

  5. Click OK.

    The variables from the selected processes are added to the Variables grid.

  1. Click OK.

    The layout is saved and appears in the Layouts Summary pane.

To rearrange the order of variables in a layout:

In the New Layout or Edit Layout dialog, use the following buttons on the right side of the Variables grid to rearrange your variables:

Move to Top

Move the selected variable to the top of the variable list.

Move Up

Move the selected variable up from its current position.

Move Down

Move the selected variable down from its current position.

Move to Bottom

Move the selected variable to the bottom of the variable list.
