Importing Requirements

You are able to import requirements into Certify in the XML Spreadsheet file.

The Name and Hierarchy parameters are the main determinants to matching existing requirements that need to be updated. If a name is not found within the provided hierarchy, then new requirements are created.

The Hierarchy parameter is optional, but if you do not use this parameter, then all requirements will be at the same level. If attributes or other pieces of information are omitted in the file, then these items will remain unchanged in the database. Any rejected records can be found in the log file.

You must have Write permissions to import requirements.

To import requirements:

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Requirements.

The Requirements window appears.

  1. In the Requirements Navigation pane, right-click on a requirement and select Import.

The Import into Certify dialog appears.

  1. Browse to the directory where the file is located and select the file.
  2. Click Open.

A message appears stating that the import is complete, and a log file has been created in the following directory: C:\Temp\Import.log

  1. Click OK.

Existing requirements are updated or new requirements are created.
