Creating Windows

You can create new windows from Certify's Applications and Maps windows.

To create a window from the Applications window:

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Applications.

The Applications window appears.

  1. In the Applications window, complete one of the following tasks:
  2. In the Navigation tree, right-click on a version and select New Window.
  3. In the Windows Summary pane, right-click in the pane and select New Window.
  4. In the Windows tab, right-click in the tab and select New Window.

The New Window dialog appears.

  1. Enter the following information in the fields:

    Field

    Description

    Name

    Enter a unique name for the window.

    The name can have a maximum of 500 characters. Special characters and numbers are allowed in names.

    Physical Name

    Enter a physical name for the window. A physical name is given by the programmer in the application's code.

    The physical name can have a maximum of 500 characters. Special characters and numbers are allowed in descriptions.

    Description

    Enter information to identify the window.

    The description can have a maximum of 256 characters. Special characters and numbers are allowed in descriptions.

    Interface

    Select an interface from the drop-down list where the new window will reside.

    Class

    Select a class that defines the window from the drop-down list. The class selection list is determined by the interface you selected.

    Exclude from Resolve

    If you do not want to include the window in the resolve process, select this option. The resolve process deletes user-created windows.

    Disabled

    Select this option if you want this window to be visible. If a window is visible, it can be included in a test. If you do not want to include this window in your test, do not select this option.

    Identification Parameters

    Enter a string that identifies the interface-specific parameters for the window.

    This string is different for each interface.

  1. Click OK.

    Certify checks the database to verify that another window does not have the same name. If the window does not already exist, then the new window appears in the Windows list.

To create a window from the Maps window:

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Maps.

The Maps window appears.

  1. In the Maps window, complete one of the following tasks:
  2. In the Navigation tree, right-click on a version and select New Window.
  3. In the Windows Summary pane, right-click in the pane and select New Window.
  4. In the Windows tab, right-click in the tab and select New Window.

The New Window dialog appears.

  1. Enter the following information in the fields:

    Name

    Enter a unique name for the window.

To edit a window:

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Applications.

The Applications window appears.

  2. In the Navigation tree, right-click on a window and select Edit.
  3. In the Windows Summary pane, right-click on a window and select Edit.
  4. In the Windows tab, right-click on a window and select Edit.

The Edit Window dialog appears.

  1. Update the window's needed parameters.
  2. Click OK.
