Using the Certify Diagnostics Tool

The Certify Diagnostics tool helps you diagnose issues that you encounter when using Certify by creating a report about a specific interface. This tool is located in the Help menu and supports the following interfaces:

  • Applitools
  • Java
  • Mac
  • Mainframe-LT
  • Mobile
  • NetUI
  • Oracle Forms
  • PDF Forms
  • QC
  • SAP
  • Silverlight
  • UIA
  • Web

To create an interface diagnostic report:

To create a diagnostic report for one interface, select an interface in the Diagnostics menu under Certify Help:

Help > Diagnostics > (Interface)

To create a diagnostic report for all interfaces, select All Diagnostics:

Help > Diagnostics > All Diagnostics

Certify Diagnostics Tool User Interface

The Certify Diagnostics tool consists of the following parts:

  • Summary Pane
  • Details pane
  • Menu options

Summary and Details Panes

The Certify Diagnostics report consists of two panes—Summary and Details panes. The top pane is the Summary pane that lists one or more groups of reported items for the selected interface and the current status.

The following icons represent the status of report items:

Error

Click on the report item, and the cause of the error appears in the Details pane.

Repaired

Insufficient Privileges

Generic

The Details pane displays specific information about the reported items.

Menu Options

The Diagnostics tool has the following menus:

  • File
  • Nodes
  • Find

With the File menu options, you can do the following tasks:

Open

Open a specific diagnostics file.

Save

Save the diagnostics report.

Exit

Exit the Diagnostics tool.

Nodes Menu

With the Nodes menu options, you can do the following tasks:

Option

Description

Expand All

Open all the nodes in the Diagnostics report tree.

Collapse All

Collapse all the nodes in the Diagnostics report tree.

When you right-click on a report item, you also have the option to expand and collapse nodes.

Find Tool

The Find tool helps you find specific report item.

To find a specific report item:

  1. In the Diagnostics tool, click Find.

    The Find Report Items tool opens.

  2. In the Search Term field, enter a word that you want to search for in the report.
  3. Click Find.

    Matching report items appear in the Report Items grid.

  4. Click on an item in the grid.

    The item is highlighted in the report.
