Authenticating Certify Users

Worksoft Certify administrators can authenticate users against one of the following systems:

  • Certify Authentication - Use SQL server authentication.
  • Worksoft Authentication Service - Use the Worksoft Portal service to authenticate. The user name must be present in both Certify and Portal databases.
  • Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) system - Use LDAP configuration to validate the user. The user name must be present in the Certify database.

To authenticate Certify users:

  1. From the Certify menu, select Configure > Certify > Authentication Settings.

The Worksoft Authentication Configuration tool opens.

  2. Select one of the following authentication options:

  3. Use Certify Authentication
  4. Use Worksoft Authentication Service
  5. Use LDAP Authentication
  1. If you selected the Use LDAP Authentication option, see Authenticating Users Against Your LDAP System for configuration details.

  2. In the Test Authentication section, enter the network user name and password to validate the credentials.

  3. Click Test User Credentials to verify the user.

  4. Click OK to save the values to your Certify database.

Next time the user logs on to Certify, the user is authenticated against the system you selected.

After a user is validated, the administrator still needs to add the user to Certify and set the appropriate permissions. For more information, see Creating New Certify Users and Assigning Permissions.
